Kamal Ponnusamy

Kamal Ponnusamy graduated from Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, India in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy and has been working in Canada since 2009. In India, he had the opportunity to develop his skills in all spheres of Physiotherapy while working in several multi-specialty hospitals. Since coming to Canada, he has expanded his skill-set in the hospital in Dawson Creek, BC and later in Private Practice settings before settling in Edmonton.

Kamal has successfully completed postgraduate courses in Acupuncture (AFCI), theJim Meadows Spinal Manipulation course from Swodeam Institute, Functional Dry needling Level-1, Level -2 from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT), K- taping, and Treatment of persistent Rotator Cuff syndrome & Ankle injuries (APTEI). He has also successfully completed Certification in Level -II from the Orthopaedic Division of Canada and is certified in Advanced Vestibular Rehabilitation.

His professional interests include treating shoulder, ankle injuries, chronic pain, Cervicogenic headaches and other sports related injuries.

He believes in educating his patients about their conditions, in providing an evidence-based treatment approach and combining with manual therapy & functional exercise to help patients return to their activities of daily living.

Kamal is on the prescribed list of physiotherapists in Alberta to manage his clients with Spinal Manipulation and to use acupuncture needles in his practice.

Outside of work, Kamal loves to spend time with his family, plays cricket in the summer and listens to music.
